The continuous strengthening of the Ghana cedi against the dollar has excited Ghanaian actor Prince David Osei.
As of Wednesday, December 14, 2022, the US dollar has gradually lost value and was trading versus the cedi at GHC10.3948 for buying and GHC10.4052 for selling.
Prior to this, weeks ago, the dollar was selling for GHC14.00.
The development has raised anticipation among internet users, who think it may be a sign of respite from the nation’s current economic difficulties.
Prince David Osei, who holds the same opinion, expressed his enthusiasm on Twitter.
“Hallelujah the Cedi is appreciating remarkably. 9.56ghc to a 1$. The economy is gradually getting back on track!! Now we need to see the effect in our daily lives, goods and services.. God bless ????????.”
In an effort to criticise the administration for the nation’s dire economic situation earlier in October 2022, the actor threatened a protest on social media.
“The Youth of this nation are not smiling, it pours, but we are still sweating.. If things don’t change by December, we will mobilize the youth of this country and hit the street irrespective of party affiliations, whether NPP, NDC, CQQ, PNC whatever, doesn’t matter now, we are all in this together”.
Prince David Osei, who supported President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo during the 2016 general elections, expressed regret for his conduct in a lengthy statement on social media.
“I decided to give you and your government the benefit of the doubt, I reckon I was wrong!”
The actor appears to have changed his mind in light of the cedi’s gradual increase, though.
“No more demonstrations. remember I gave an ultimatum for December.”
