No one has advised me not to run for any office in the NDC – Asiedu Nketia

Johnson Asiedu Nketia, the general secretary of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), has categorically refuted rumors that he was warned against running for a certain post in the party during a meeting with the Council of Elders and other NDC leaders.

Mr. Nketia asserts that this report is untrue.

In a statement, Mr. Nketia acknowledged that, in his capacity as General Secretary, he regularly meets with the Council of Elders, former President John Mahama, and elders of the party to discuss matters relating to the health of the NDC. However, at no time during any of these meetings, the topic of his intention to run for any office in the party was brought up.

He said that the NDC as a whole and the Council of Elders support internal democracy and oppose forcing candidates on the party.

He promised to announce his choice regarding his future in politics with the NDC at the appropriate moment.
