A communication team member of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Akatsi South constituency, Japhet Festus Gbede, in a Facebook post, has accused the New Patriotic Party (NPP) government of its inability to state any major development project it has initiated in the Volta Region.
Japhet Festus Gbede, a young and vibrant Deputy Communication Officer aspirant, has asked the president to stop sharing the national cake of the state in a selective way, describing the president’s two-day working tour to the Volta region as a misplaced priority, a waste of time and state resources.
He indicated that the projects the president is expected to commission should be done by unit committee members in any modern country.
It is unfortunate that Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, the President of the Republic, would travel to the Volta Region for two days between September 12 and today, September 13, 2022, in order to inspect and commission projects that should be inaugurated by unit committee members. Part of his statement read: “If this is not a time-wasting, misplaced priority, then it is a calculated attempt to waste the state’s scarce resources.”

I have taken note of the president’s most recent time-wasting, wasteful of public funds, and demeaning trip to the Volta Region.
It is unfortunate that Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, the President of the Republic, would travel to the Volta Region for two days between September 12 and today, September 13, 2022, in order to inspect and commission projects that should be inaugurated by Unit Committee members. If this is not a time-wasting, misplaced priority, then it is a calculated attempt to waste the state’s scarce resources.
It is disheartening to observe how the taxpayers’ money is being wasted by the Nana Addo-Bawumia administration, as 90% of the completed Akatsi District Hospital expansion project has been abandoned to the whims of nature, and the project site has turned into a cattle and grasscutter grazing area.
The Akatsi to Dagbamatey road, phase two of the Akatsi township road, and the Akatsi to Ave-Dagba roads have been abandoned and now turned into death traps for the good people of these communities.
I therefore challenge the government to embrace truth, justice, and equity in the distribution of our natural and God-endowed resources. The government must avoid anything that will breed injustice, discontent, division, and rancor among the regions by fairly sharing the national cake.
I wish to serve as a gentle reminder to the President of the Republic and his naive NPP government that the Volta Region is not home to any major projects, and that if his body language persists in fighting for unequal distribution of the national cake, history will hold him and the government accountable.
