In just 3 days, over 10,000 Ghanaians downloaded the “GH SIM Self Reg” app.

With the introduction of this program, Ghana became the first country in the world to have a self-service application.

The Google Play Store offers a simple download for the Gh SIM Self Reg app.

With the help of the app, the general people will be able to re-register their SIM cards in the comfort of their own homes rather than waiting in line at the offices of their network providers.

The app, which debuted on Friday, August 26, 2022, is reportedly progressing successfully; at this time, only android phones may access it.

In an interview with Kwami Sefa Kayi on Peace FM’s morning program “Kokrokoo,” Nana Defie Badu, the director of consumer and corporate affairs for the National Communication Authority (NCA), disclosed that more than 10,000 Ghanaians have downloaded the app since Friday.

The Ghanaian government, through the Ministry of Communications and Digitalization, has released a self-service app to assist with the ongoing SIM re-registration process.

She clarified that in order to properly complete the self-service app registration, a person must first complete stage 1 of their SIM card registration, which requires the user to dial *404# and provide the information from their Ghana card. This will generate a unique code.

However, she highlighted that users will be charged GHC 5 and that the program is not free.

“It is just an alternative way to complete your SIM registration”, she said, adding that those who don’t want to use it still have the option to go to the network providers to register their SIM cards.

The app is also available for use to Ghanaian nationals in the diaspora.

“For now, the app uses the Ghana Card. So, those abroad who have their Ghana Card can use the self-sevice app to complete the registration”, she said.

Nana Defie Badu asked persons with problems with their using the app to contact 0800110622.
