NPP should learn lessons from the 2007 Presidential Primaries & choose candidate who can help break the 8-NPP Former Youth Organizer

The outspoken NPP Former Constituency Youth Organizer who was also the Former Ag. Communication Officer for Kintampo North, Joseph Nanga Nyindam has sent a word of advice to the NPP to as a matter of urgency revisit the political history of the party with regard to the 2007 PRESIDENTIAL PRIMARIES held in Legon where the current President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufu Addo and sixteen (16) other persons including the then sitting Vice President, I H.E. Alhaji Aliu Mahama(may his soul rest in peace) engaged in a heated contest in the quest to get a successor for H.E. President J.A. Kuffour who had exhausted his constitutional mandate.

It can be recall that the big guns suffered to reconcile the rank and file of the party before the 2008 General Elections.

The activities of the arty were thrown into unplanned Opposition despite all the numerous projects, programmes and policies by the NPP Government.

He added that party quickly realised this and since 2012 till date NPP have not changed its PRESIDENTIAL Candidate and Ghanaian hailed the party for it’s consistency.

He reiterated that the Partys Constitutional mandate for the President expires come January 2025 but the onus rest on the laps of the NPP to choose a successor to run the 2024 General Elections.

Mr Nyindam urged all party delegates to do something for once at least in the Political History of party where a sitting Vice President shall be allowed to go unopposed.

“This shall carry signals to the Ghanaian Voters of our readiness as a party to break the eight as our slogan goes.”he stressed

He further said, the Vice President has carried Himself so well and brought out his best to serve President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufu Addo very well and by extention, the good people of Ghana who gave NPP the mandate as a party to steer the affairs of the state.

Presidential Candidate Hopefuls spring out everyday in the name of democracy but the interest of the party should supersede any other policy when we know retaining power is the most ultimate. This attitude rather devides our teaming supporters and weakens our already formidable front” he added

He finally stated that the current Leadership apart from bringing out disciplinary measures to put on hold, all internal PRESIDENTIAL activities, should also endeavour to stump the Partys authority to try this alternative of presenting the sitting Vice President, HE Dr Alhaji Mahamud Bawumia as the next PRESIDENTIAL Candidate so that the party can start marketing him to match the emerging candidate from the opposition NDC going into 2024 General Elections.
