*ADDRESS BY DR. JAMES KOFI ANNAN ON THE OCCASION OF THE INAUGURATION OF THE BRANCH EXECUTIVES OF EFFUTU NDC.*
Dr. James Kofi Annan, the 2020 parliamentary candidate for Effutu NDC, yesterday addressed a gathering of the members of the party, on the occasion of the inauguration of the newly elected branch executives in the Effutu constituency.
In his speech, he stressed on the need for all NDC members to rally behind John Dramani Mahama and his running mate Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, for victory 2024.
Dr. James Kofi Annan, who has provided determined leadership support for the party since 2020, gave account of his journeys in the NDC, and gave assurance of his determination to do more to ensure the victory of the party come 2024.
He used the occasion to acknowledge the hard work of the forebearers of the NDC in the constituency, entreating members to emulate their fine examples.
Sounding undecided on his plans for future parliamentary contest, he, with a proverbial illustration, called on the rank and file of the party, especially persons who don’t act in the supreme interest of the party because they are not the immediate victims of their actions, to tread cautiously, since they could be possible successors of their own negative actions in the not-too-distant future.
Clad in a unique NDC costume, he thanked all the constituency executives, especially the chairman, Kow Mensah Turkson, for standing by him through thick and thin, since the last elections.
Addressing the gathering, the Regional Chairman of the party, Hon. Lawyer E. K. T. Addo, said the constituency has made a history. He said it has never happened before that any constituency will assemble all newly elected branch executives, swear them into office, and give all of them certificates of office. He therfore congratulated the constituency executives, especially the financier, James Kofi Annan, for achieving such a feat, despite all the challenges confronting the constituency. He warned the saboteurs of the party in the constituency to be weary, since they shall be identified and dealt with soon.
The swearing in ceremony was led by Lawyer Victor Yankson. Certificates of office was given to all elected branch executives, who were all clad in white and NDC colours.
Present at the gathering included, H.E. Prof S.M. Quartey(Former Ambassador to Morrocco & Czech Republic), Hon.
