No Ghanaian will pick Mahama over Bawumia – Energy Minister

Deputy President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia will be preferred by Ghanaians over former President John Dramani Mahama in the 2024 elections, according to Energy Minister Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh.

He claims that Dr. Bawumia will win the support of Ghanaians since his accomplishments as the leader of Ghana’s economic management team are considerably superior to those of Mahama, who oversaw the team while it was led by the late Prof. John Evans Atta Mills.

Dr. Opoku Prempeh said that Ghanaians will choose Bawumia over Mahama because Mahama is corrupt while Bawumia is not in an Asempa interview that GhanaWeb was watching.

“You have to compare the performance of Bawumia when he was the Head of Ghana’s Economic Management Team and that of Mahama when he was the head of the team. Did Prof. Mills not ask that Mahama be investigated when he was the Head of Ghana’s Economic Management Team?

“What I want to say is that there is no Ghanaian who, when given John Dramani Mahama and Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia as options, will choose John Mahama. Mahama is indecisive, incompetent, and corrupt.

“Look at what happened when a BBC journalist asked Mahama whether he was corrupt. No BBC journalist can sit with Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia and even ask him whether he is corrupt. Have you heard Bawumia’s name been mentioned in any corruption allegation?” he said in Twi.

The vice president is the head of the Economic Management Team, so it’s surprising that he’s being held accountable for the nation’s current economic woes, according to the energy minister, who is also the Manhyia South representative in parliament.

He asserted that Bawumia cannot be held accountable since the Economic Management Team functions as a team with a variety of expertise, and no one person can be held accountable if things are not going according to plan.
