According to authorities, throughout the course of the weekend, at least 126 pounds of cocaine worth $2 million washed up in three different places in the Florida Keys.
One haul weighing 72 pounds hit the shore in mangroves close to a condominium development in Tavernier, according to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office.
According to deputies, locals found the items and informed the authorities.
This past weekend, packages of cocaine came ashore in three different places near the Florida Keys.
Along the Florida Keys, packages of cocaine washed up in three different places.
“The large package contained multiple smaller packages tightly packed with black tape,” spokesman Adam Linhardt said. “Its contents field-tested positive for cocaine.”
Cudjoe Key in the Lower Keys and Duck Key in the Middle Keys both had two additional cocaine wash-ups.
The expensive illegal goods, estimated to be worth $2 million on the black market, were given to the federal border officials.
According to Newsweek, data from Customs and Border Protection reveals that more than 60,000 pounds of illegal substances were found across the US in June.
