Dr. Adomako Kissi, MP for Anyaa Sowutuom Engaged Constituents

Dr. Adomako Kissi, MP for Anyaa Sowutuom Constituency engaged with the local residents within Aunty Aku and Awoshie on Sunday 31st July at 4pm to discuss challenges confronted by the ordinary people within the constituency. Accompanying him were executives of the New Patriotic party including the Chariman, First Vice Chair, Cordinators, Nasara Deputy, Financial Secretary, Deputy Youth Organizer, Communication Executive and other former executives.

The main issue that residents and attendees brought up were on roads and drains. A few people also talked about job opportunities and the need for support. Dr. Adomako Kissi, explained that the area lacked large enterprises or companies which provide the assembly with huge tax revenues. The limited sources of tax revenues within our catchment area hindered large development in the area. In lieu of tax revenue from big enterprises, people ought to pay their property taxes, or building permit to make the assembly financially viable.

Dr. Adomako Kissi, the MP also made a point to educate them about the changing economic conditions within Ghana and the world at large. The competing forces must then be balanced against the need for maintaining services and acceptable condition of our constituency assets such as equipments, public buildings, roads, water lines, electricity facilities and valued community amenities. He further said that the management of his office seeks always to maintain a solid finanicial base, a fundamental pay-as-you –go idea.

He said striking a balance between competing external forces and the needs of people within the constituency comes with more experience. He assured the people that over the past one and a half years (18 months), he has been working hard for them and pushing as much as possible. He encouraged attendees to work hard on paying property rates, to enable us to maintain flood levels and the condition of infrastructure.

He stated that it is his wish as well us that of the MCE and the Chairman to stay ahead of the road infrastructure and maintenance curve, and to communicate accomplishments well. He urged the people to work hard to also make the constituency vibrant and positive so that many more events can be done for the benefit of the youth and the elderly. This was an active resident engagement, a two-way communication in person, very professional and well-groomed attendees. In concluding, the MP stated some long-term vision in planning, and the need for a clean, safe neighborhoods and jobs for the youth. He promised to collaborate and to form stronger relationships with the people who live and work for the betterment of the constituency.

He added that the major roles and critical function of a parliamentarian would continue to happen including working on bills, supporting the functions of the Municipal Chief Executive and Chairman, overseeing election related issues, workers compensation, education and health care delivery. He assured the attendees that he will work hard each day to make them proud of Anyaa Sowutuom. The people got refreshment and a token out of the 10,000gh cash donation made at the event towards transport fares. Other Electoral Areas like Agape, Olebu, Ablekuma Fanmilk, Santa Maria and the others should expect such a visit in the weeks ahead. Thanks for such a wonderful program and for attending to us.
