DCE for Akontombra arrested over his involvement in kidnapping case of former DCE

The District Chief Executive (DCE) for Akontombra in the Western North Region, Yawson Amoah has been apprehended by the Ghana police service.

He was arrested over his alleged power play in the kidnapping of a former DCE for the area known as Appiah Kubi Baidoo.

Information gathered by police indicates that, the official vehicle of the DCE was allegedly used for carrying such supposed kidnapping operations.

Sources have not given a detailed accounts to what might have triggered such inane action but police suspects fishy disagreements over the New Patriotic Party (NPP) polling station elections in the Akontombra constituency henceforth the call for the move.

Western North Regional Police Commander, DCOP Ernest Akresi Mensah who disclosed this unfortunate incident to Citi News reiterated that, investigations are underway to unravel the situation.

“The former DCE was kidnapped by unknown persons, but the good news is that we know that, the vehicle of the current DCE was used. So, as I speak, we have invited the DCE, took his statement and granted him bail yesterday. He claimed he is innocent.”

Meanwhile, the vehicle used for the operation has been seized at the Regional Headquarters of the Ghana Police Service at Sewhi Wiaso pending investigations.
