Don’t put the blame on us for the recent Dumsor in Kumasi- Ghana Gas workers

Information reaching this portal indicates that workers of Ghana Gas are on the wind side for a Press Conference to address concerns over a distasteful Comment made by the sector Minister on Peace Fm morning Show on December 2, 2021 that the aforementioned company is the major cause of the intermittent power outages in Kumasi recently.

Majority of workers have asserted that, Hon.Mathew Opoku Prempeh ,Minister of energy doesn’t value the safety protocols involved in running a gas plant.

The workers further disclosed that their good yielding efforts has aided the Ghana Gas as a company which has improved massively in finding a lasting solution to the “Dumsor” situation in the country which has also helped the incumbent to rake in some savings with the use of Gas for power generation instead of a dependence of HFO.

Another area which is on the wings of solving the power outages in Kumasi is the LPG production availability in the country over the past years.

However, the posturing of the Energy minster, to attribute the recent power supply in some parts of Ashanti Region to the Ghana Gas is terribly unfortunate and must be condemned completely.

Moreso , the aggrieved workers of Ghana Gas have cautioned Management to find punitive measures to educate the Minister and his collaborators the rationale behind why maintenance is utterly needed for the safety of every individual because they believe no life or even toe is worth losing when things are not corrected.

Mr Prah who’s a worker, stated that VRA had a major leak after a routine maintenance in Mid November but the Minister kept mute of the plight but rather push the blame on Ghana Gas which is very unfortunate

Another worker quizzed “what is the motive behind the Minister’s comments? He is supposed to bring all of us in the industry together because the country comes first but why is he making disparaging remarks that doesn’t reflect the situation in the industry and trying to separate the unity in discharging our duties”

They urged the sector Minister to rather Work in unison than trying to soil the image of Ghana Gas because President Akuffo Addo himself upon several visit to the facilities has been impressed about their work over the years and thrilled with workers that indeed they have Ghana at heart and thus encouraged all despite the political divide to continue to contribute their qouta to save more for the Industry but the tangent Dr.Mattew Opoku Prempeh is trading is slow pacing the reflective work of Ghana Gas thus he should fathom the high risk involved in running a gas plant.

Just recently, the overlord of Ashanti region, Otumfou Osei Tutu || lamented over the current intermittent power supply in the region.

He , therefore asked the minister of Energy to urgently find pragmatic lasting solution to address the problem.

According to Asante, the intermittent power outages in the region is a discomforting experience, adding that the frequent Power cut have led to the damage of almost all his electrical appliances.

“For about three weeks to month now, I know my son( Energy minster) has been doing a lot of work, but I was there one time when there was a sudden cut of power, I try to rest and the power goes off, all my appliances have been destroyed,” the overlord of Ashanti lamented.

Meanwhile, the energy minister , had paid a courtesy call on the Asantehene to give an explanation why the Ashanti region had been experiencing frequent Power outages.

However, he assured the Asantehene the people of Ashanti region that he’s working assiduously to find long lasting solution to the problem before it blows alot of dimensions in the Ashanti region.

“We are working assiduously on the GRIDCo lines that have fallen. We cannot lie to you, we Are asking you to support us with your prayer and love, I have nowhere to go, I won’t sit idle for Power in Kumasi to be toyed with.We have just encountered difficulty, but soon , it will all be resolved” the sector Minister stressed

The Asantehene further appealed to him to expedite action on relocating the Ameri Power plant to Kumasi.

But GRIDCo says the relocation of the 250 megawatts plant is to aid the stabilization of the power situation in the Central part of the country.

The Ghana Grid Company Limited(GRIDCo) had earlier raise a red flag of a possible load management across the country after a communication mast collapsed and fell on its 330kV Aboadze- Kumasi transmission line.
