Two unknown suspected thieves have been arrested at the Korle Bu teaching hospital in the early hours of 2-3 am on Saturday dawn on the 22nd of May,2021.
Reports coming in suggest that the two suspected thieves pretended and dressed like surgical doctors in a laboratory coat of the hospital. They entered the Korle Bu surgical ward and stole 14 units of blood reserved for patients who were in need of the blood to survive.
A surveillance was mounted for the thieves after which they were eventually nabbed at the dawn on Saturday May 22, 2021.
The suspects have been handed over to the Korle Bu Police Station which has instituted an investigation into the incident.
According to the hospital, the suspects were picked at the surgical ward while they attempted to steal “several” pints of blood.
In a statement, the teaching hospital said the arrest was done through a special operation.
The hospital later urged staff to be vigilant when they see any suspicious activity going on in the hospital.
